Live from Hochstein – Hochstein Merit Scholarship Winners

Winners of the 2024 Hochstein Merit Scholarships perform. Hochstein teachers nominate students for merit scholarships and auditions take place in February and March. The scholarships are organized in four categories for various age levels of music students, with the top scholarship level winners performing in concert. 

This concert features Noah Busch of Brighton, a sophomore at Brighton High School and a violin student of Pia Liptak; Lillian Brickman of Brighton, a junior at School of the Arts and a guitar student of Tim Shannon; and Julian Chumacero of Victor, a senior at Victor Senior High School and a violin student of Pia Liptak.

Noah Busch performs Man dreaming butterfly dreaming man for violin and piano by contemporary composer Bonnie Miksch. Guitarist Lillian Brickman will play selections from Preludes by Heitor Villa-Lobos and J.S. Bach, along with Berceuse and Trio by Napoleon Coste. Julian Chumacero performs the first movement of Cesar Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major and Ernest Bloch’s Suite No. 1 for Solo Violin.

The Hochstein School’s free noontime Live from Hochstein concert series will be hosted by WXXI Classical’s Mona Seghatoleslami and broadcast live. Listen to the concert on WXXI Classical at 91.5 FM, 90.3 FM, or online at https://www.wxxiclassical.org. Listen to an encore broadcast on WXXI Classical 91.5 FM at 10:00 pm the day of the concert.

Please note that only bottled water is allowed in the newly renovated hall. PLEASE do not attend any activity at Hochstein if you are not feeling 100% healthy.
