Suzuki Strings

Age 3 and older

Hochstein Suzuki Strings is a program centered on the instrumental study of violin, viola, and cello for children ages three and older with a teacher trained in the Suzuki Method. Individual weekly lessons start at 30 minutes and include a weekly 50-minute group class as part of the tuition. Group classes are also a key part of the Suzuki program.

The Suzuki Method involves three participants: the parent/caregiver, the teacher, and the child. Each participant is an equal, active member of the learning process and together form an all-important ’triangle’ of learning - the Suzuki Triangle.

Suzuki students and their parent/caregivers learn ways to reinforce instruction at home by participating in a group class, which is taken in parallel with individual Suzuki lessons. This group class is a requirement of the program and included in the general Suzuki fees.

Fee: $20 registration fee. $38* fee per half-hour lesson (includes the group class). (Fees are as of Fall 2024.)

With enrollment in Suzuki Strings, families have the opportunity to take other class offerings at Hochstein at a reduced rate (e.g., Music FUNdamentals, Dance, Choral Ensemble, or other ensembles).
