Part-Time Faculty Positions:
Suzuki & Traditional Cello Instructors

 

The Hochstein School seeks part-time instructors of Suzuki and traditional cello to provide individual lessons and Suzuki group classes to students ages 3-adult. Additional opportunities may be available for chamber music coaching.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor of Music degree (required), Master of Music degree (preferred)
  • For Suzuki teachers: 
    -    Suzuki cello teacher training through Book 3 (or beyond); commitment to take additional training (with assistance) in the future
    -    Commitment to teaching Suzuki group classes as well as individual lessons (required)
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience, including experience with beginners as well as with students of various ages and levels of advancement
  • Previous teaching experience in a music school setting desirable
  • Skills and enthusiasm for working with children/youth and their parents, as well as with adults, to develop strong musicianship
  • Experience coaching chamber music to a variety of ages/levels is a plus
  • Interest in the Hochstein mission
  • Ability to contribute to the excellence of our program in conjunction with the Hochstein faculty and staff 

Schedule: Various afternoon/evening hours for individual lessons and possible chamber coaching; Saturdays for Suzuki group classes, individual lessons and possible chamber coaching. Teaching schedules will start in September 2024. 

Compensation: hourly, depending on qualifications/experience.
