Grades 8-12, NYSSMA Level 4+ or the equivalent
Open to piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
Audition Requirements: Applicants will be asked to submit a short video of their playing to ensure best possible group placement. (See below on how to apply.)
Please note: Students will be asked to follow any COVID-19 safety guidelines that are in place by the time rehearsals begin.
Instrument-specific ensembles are formed of players of compatible ages and abilities, as permitted from the pool of applicants to the Chamber Music Connection Program. Possible options include:
- Clarinet Choir
- Flute Choir
- Trombone Choir
- Cello Ensemble
- Violin Ensemble
- Percussion Ensemble
- or 8-hand Piano Ensemble
Students participating in these ensembles improve both individual and sectional playing techniques and get to explore a wide range of repertoire. Groups meet for weekly one-hour coaching sessions scheduled at a time mutually agreeable among ensemble members and the coach.
As part of CMC, Instrument Ensembles are provided many performance opportunities throughout the year with concerts at Hochstein and in the community.
FEE: $10 registration fee; $576* yearly tuition payable in quarterly installments of $144 each. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein, yearly tuition is $468 payable in quarterly installments of $117. (Fees are as of Fall 2022.)
