Ballet III

Diane Lewis, Instructor
Thursdays, 5:30-7:00 pm

Ages 12+ (or by instructor permission)

Our sequential ballet training focuses on the adagio and allegro movements in combination with elementary Pirouettes. Importance is placed on the development of strength in the legs and feet to prepare students for Pointe work. Dancers continue to stretch, develop stability in turns, and to perfect smooth connections of movements while students develop strength, flexibility, and placement.

Ballet III/IV

Diane Lewis, Instructor
Mondays, 5:30-7:00 pm

Ages 13+ (or by instructor permission)

Continuing focus on the Russian (Vaganova) Technique at a more advanced level. It is recommended that students take both classes of Ballet III and III/IV each week in order to experience a higher level of achievement.

Pointe & Variations

Diane Lewis, Instructor
Thursdays, 7:15-8:15 pm

Ages 13+ (or by instructor permission)

Students who are technically capable and physically developed have the option of participating in Pointe class as part of their Vaganova training. The Preparation/Pointe/Variations class will focus on developing the coordination, muscular strength, and placement for pointe work. Emphasis is placed on the proper foot, body alignment, and core strength needed to safely and successfully dance “en pointe.” The class consists of beginning and intermediate pointe technique by incorporating exercises at barre and center. Center work includes intermediate combinations and repertoire from traditional and original ballets (variations). Once students have acquired strength and technical proficiency, they are allowed to take the class en pointe.

FEES for the Ballet III, Ballet III/IV, and Pointe & Variations classes: $20 registration fee; $114* tuition; $90 for students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein during summer session. Discounts may apply for students enrolled in multiple dance classes. (Fees are as of Summer 2024.)
