Together since 1995, Mambo Kings are enjoying great success as Upstate New York’s foremost Latin jazz ensemble, and have earned a national reputation for their explosive blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz improvisation. This concert will feature rhythm & blues, jazz, and Broadway tunes performed in an Afro-Cuban style.

Mambo Kings is Richard DeLaney, piano; John Viavattine, winds; Tony Padilla, congas; Freddy Colón, timbales; and Hector Diaz, bass.

Since their orchestral debut with Jeff Tyzik and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Mambo Kings have appeared in Pops concerts with orchestras in Baltimore, Vancouver, Detroit, Dallas, Naples (FL), and Portland (OR), among many others, performing original compositions and arrangements by pianist Richard DeLaney.

Admission at the door is $10 per person, with a $20 family maximum. Concerts are free to Hochstein students/families, faculty, and staff. The concert lasts about an hour, and is followed by a “meet the artists” reception.
