Digging into Dixieland

Colin Gordon, Coordinator & Coach
Saturdays;
11:30 am-12:30 pm
grades 9-12 and adults, NYSSMA Level 4 or the equivalent

Participants of this popular ensemble will take a closer look into the music of the early 1920s. Using the groups of Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke as points of departure, the experience will be geared toward playing and performing in an authentic Dixieland jazz style. The offering will be heavily focused on learning repertoire, improvising, and collaborating with others in a relaxed, fun environment. The group will consist of trumpet, trombone, saxophone/clarinet, piano, bass/tuba, and drums.

Fee: $10 registration fee; $504* yearly tuition payable in quarterly installments of $126 each. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein, yearly tuition is $414 payable in quarterly installments of $103.50. (Fees are as of Fall 2017.)
