John Rolland holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Wind Conducting from SUNY Fredonia where he was the School of Music’s first graduate assistant in conducting. He is an instrumental music teacher and coordinator of the music department at Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield, NY. Prior to Penfield, Rolland taught at Northport High School on Long Island where he directed the concert band, jazz ensemble, chamber winds and was assistant director of the Northport Tiger Marching Band.
Rolland is Director of Bands at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and is a frequent guest conductor of junior and senior high honor bands throughout New York State. He has served as Interim Director of the Cassadaga Area Concert Band and Music Director of the East End Chamber Orchestra (Long Island, NY.)
As a percussionist, Rolland has performed regularly with the Atlantic Wind Symphony and Western New York Chamber Orchestra. He is a percussion instructor with the Gates-Chili High School Marching Band and a former front ensemble instructor with the White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps. He continues to maintain an active performance schedule in and around the Rochester area.
