Monday-Friday, July 20-24, 2020 AND
Monday-Friday, July 27-31, 2020
2-week program, 9:00 am-12:30 pm
Open to violinists, violists, cellists, and basses entering grades 6-12
Suggested level: No audition is necessary, but students must be proficient in reading music, have a solid understanding of rhythm, and be able to play beyond first position on their instrument.
Join your Hochstein Chamber Music Connection Camp faculty for a virtual “deep dive” into the skills and knowledge that make a great chamber musician. We will spend time listening to and studying the vast chamber music repertoire, gaining a deeper understanding of musical terminology, fine-tuning technical skills with technique/scale classes, receiving visits from guest artists and lecturers, and testing out new knowledge with group games and trivia.
Each student will be assigned a duet, trio, or quartet to play and record with camp faculty and will work on this repertoire in private lessons throughout the course of the camp. Students will receive their edited recording at the end of the camp to share with friends and family, near and far.
This entire two-week session will be held via Zoom. A Zoom-compatible device is required for participation, such as a smartphone, laptop, or tablet that has a basic video recording capability and a microphone. We can’t wait to see you there!
Fee: $10 registration fee; $350* tuition. (Fees are as of Summer 2020.)
