Hochstein Expressive Arts Faculty - Noah Jones

Instrument/Department: Expressive Arts Music Therapist - percussion, voice, guitar, piano
Joined Hochstein faculty in: 2021 - 2023

Noah Jones is a board-certified music therapist, who received their board certification in May of 2021. They grew up in Liverpool, NY, where they were an active member of the CNS High School Marching Band, where they later became the drum major and led the band. After high school they attended Nazareth College as part of the music therapy department to blend both science and music.

In February of 2021, Jones completed their internship at the Northgate Health Care Facility, where they facilitated both individual and group sessions with older adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia. They were fortunate to be in person at Northgate for the whole duration of their internship, so they learned how to be very flexible with services during times of uncertainty.

Jones’s favorite part about being a music therapist is seeing how music can bring out parts of people that maybe even they didn’t know existed.

Jones is looking forward to a year full of growth, connections, and even more music!

More About Noah Jones

Hometown: Liverpool, NY

What inspires me: Seeing how much music can really affect someone to their core

Why the arts matter: In times of stress, grief, celebration, remembrance, and many other occasions, the arts are what can help stabilize us and connect us more to those around us. The arts help us to reconcile with emotions that we can’t bring words to, they help give a voice to the voiceless, they help us find meaning. The arts matter because we, as people, matter.
