Chamber Music Connection Program Director (part-time)

The Hochstein School’s Chamber Music Connections Program Director oversees all aspects of Hochstein’s award-winning chamber music program.

CMC Duties:

  • Handles all placement of students, assigning coaches, and space assignments in coordination with ensemble area coordinators, instrument specialists, and Assistant Director/Dean.
  • Handles all inquiries regarding the CMC program and acts as the main Hochstein communications liaison among potential students, parents, andcoaches.
  • Orients coaches on CMC policies and advises and supports as needed if/when substitute coaches are needed.
  • Checks in periodically with coaches to provide additional support (e.g. repertoire suggestions, performance opportunity questions, student attendance issues).
  • Plans, coordinates, and hosts CMC masterclasses, other events (Chamber for the Pantry) and year-end CMC concerts.
  • Provides details of all CMC activities to Hochstein staff and works closely with Dean Staff on enrollment oversight.
  • Works with Hochstein staff and Director of Marketing and Communications to produce concert programs, applications, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborates with Ensembles Coordinator, Assistant Director/Dean, and President/Executive Director to identify student performers for special events such as the Hochstein Gala, orchestra pre-concert programs, donor events, community concerts, etc.
  • With Assistant Director/Dean, assists with the new faculty hiring and review process for chamber coaches.
  • Assists summer chamber music camp directors with student recruitment.
  • Continues to develop strong ties/contacts with teachers within the Hochstein community as well as the Rochester community-at-large.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for Hochstein’s mission and the drive to develop a vision for the future of the CMC program with other Hochstein faculty and staff
  • A minimum of Undergraduate degree in Music; Masters preferred
  • At least 2 years professional experience as a chamber coach
  • At least 1 year working in an administrative capacity
  • Well-respected in the community as a musician/educator
  • Knowledge of the landscape of local public school music educators and private teachers is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, high degree of precision and accuracy
  • Helpful, enthusiastic attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent, professional communication skills, oral and written
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and carry out duties effectively and accurately with minimal supervision

 

Hours: Flexible as needed – more hours during initial school-year session set-up (July through November) and peak performance times (April-June).

Remuneration: Annual stipend $12,000-$14,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
