More About Alexandra Hine

Hometown: Pittsford, NY

What inspires me: My family, friends, and students. Seeing the way playing music can impact someone on any given day inspires me to be a better performer and teacher every day to reach those I love and care for.

Why the arts matter: The arts give the opportunity to anyone at any age to express themselves and continue to develop new skills. It doesn’t matter if someone is brand new to an art, or if they have been practicing their art for 50 years, there is always room to learn new skills and continue to always strive to be better!

Favorite things to do in Rochester area: Traveling to the lakes that we are so fortunate to be close to. Living in Victor, my husband and I spend a lot of time on Canandaigua Lake.

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: Besides teaching and performing, you can find me in the kitchen. I am a huge baker and cook. I love making food for my family and friends.

My favorite local restaurant: Lucano’s. Truly some of the best Italian food in the area!

Favorite place to travel: New York City area. A lot of my family and friends are from that area. I always feel like I am traveling to my second home.

Favorite movie: My favorite movies are The Wizard of Oz and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Both have beautiful musical scores and have had a huge connection to me throughout my life.
