Hochstein Voice Faculty - Deborah Conquest

Instrument/Department: Voice 

Joined Hochstein Faculty in: 2007-2009 and again 2016-2020

 

Deborah is an American soprano with more than 20 years teaching experience. Deborah holds Doctorate of Music (ABD) and Master of Music degrees, both in voice, from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. In addition, she graduated cum laude from SUNY Fredonia in New York with a Bachelor of Music degree in voice.

Deborah teaches singing, vocal pedagogy, and master classes in vocal technique, vocal style, music theory, and performance, most recently at music conservatories in Florence, Pisa, and Lucca, Italy and in the U.S., at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, Nazareth College, and Finger Lakes Community College, as well as at Florida International University, Barry Westminster Christian School, and the University of Miami, Florida. Recent projects have included teaching a series of technical courses in Miami. Her students have gone on to sing with major opera companies, on Broadway, on The Voice and American Idol, and recorded with major international record labels.

Deborah has sung and taught all over the world, and recently returned from a four-year tour in Italy. In the U.S., Deborah has sung with the Florida Grand Opera, Aspen Music Festival, Chautauqua Opera, Cincinnati Opera Theatre, Grandin Music Festival, Hispanic American Lyric Theatre, Kenan Vocal Arts Institute, Florida International University Opera Theatre, Florida International Symphony, Fredonia (NY) Chamber Players, Brevard (FL) Community Chorus and Orchestra, and Cincinnati AIDS Benefit Concerts. She is a registered Music Together® teacher and also completed training with “Music For People.” She has taught Italian and English as a second language, as well as piano. www.deborahconquest.com

My favorite local restaurant: Fiorella in the Public Market-- AMAZING authentic Italian food!

Favorite place to travel: Italy. I spent many years singing and teaching in Tuscany

Favorite style of music: Beethoven String Quartets and Johnny Cash

What people would be surprised to know about me: I don't listen to opera all day long!
