As an orchestral double bass player, Wan-Ling Chuang started her professional orchestral career performing at the age of 19, performing with the Taipei Symphony and Taipei Philharmonic in Taiwan as well as the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, Binghamton Philharmonic, and Cayuga Chamber Orchestra in New York State. She currently serves as assistant Principal Double Bass in the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes.
In 2007, she received a teaching assistantship from the Eastman School of Music to continue her music trainings. She obtained her Master of Music in 2009 and her Doctoral of Music in Double Bass Performance and Literature with minor in music theory in May 2014. During her years at Eastman, she focused her teaching experiences as an instructor of Secondary Double Bass at the University of Rochester and serves as Teaching Assistant of both the double bass studio and education department at the Eastman School of Music. Beyond college teaching, Chuang also teaches younger bassists as a double bass intern instructor at the ECMS and teaches at the Hochstein School.
Besides music teaching activities, Chuang also regularly participates in chamber music performance. She was selected to perform in the Women In Music Festival in New York City and Schenectady at 2011, and has been invited to perform in Horseheads, Rochester, Corning, Olean, and Wellsboro PA.
