Ralph is a graduate of The Navy School of Music, Norfolk, Va. and Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass. He also pursued special studies at Central Texas College and SUNY Geneseo. Over the past 40 years Ralph has taught guitar at various studios in Livingston, Genesee, Wyoming, Monroe, Steuben, Allegany, and Cattaraugus counties. He also teaches at his home. Based on his various teaching methods, Ralph is the author of "Position Primer for Guitar Students", "Almost Everything About Guitar Chords", Incentive Pieces for Guitar Students", and "The Eclectic Guitarist". He teaches Jazz, Classical, Country, Rock, and Traditional Blues.
As a solo guitarist Ralph has performed at various establishments in the Rochester and surrounding areas. He has also recorded two CDs: "Ralph Louis - Anytime, Anywhere" and "Ralph Louis - Out of the Blue".
Ralph has lectured on The History of Music through the Guitar. He was a recipient of the NYSCA Grant in 1995 and 1998, and of the 2010 Faculty Service Award here at Hochstein.
