Hochstein String Faculty - Sarah Song

Instrument: Cello, chamber music coach 
Joined Hochstein: 2020-2022

A native Houstonian, cellist Sarah Song is a graduate of Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of David Ying (Ying Quartet). Prior to her Master's studies at Eastman, Song received her Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, with Brandon Vamos (Pacifica Quartet). 

Her passion for teaching has led her to many schools across the United States working with beginner to advanced cellists. In the Rochester community, Sarah enjoys teaching at The Hochstein School and the inner-city ROCmusic program. 

A founding member of the Distortion Quartet who competed most recently in the Coltman Chamber Competition in Austin, TX, Sarah is interested in expanding the traditional concert experience through audience engagement with a basis in theoretical findings. Sarah is currently pursuing an Advanced Certificate from CUNY Queens College, studying with Marcy Rosen.
