Louise Ly received her Associates in Fine Arts (Piano Performance) at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2012 and received her Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy (Magna Cum Laude) from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, in 2017. Louise completed her B.M. in Music Therapy clinical internship requirement at Hochstein School of Music and Dance during the 2016-2017 school year.
She has been an active member of the Central Piedmont Community College Baroque Ensemble, performing multiple ensemble pieces on harpsichord as well as participating in the Nazareth College Wind Symphony, playing Bass Clarinet and Clarinet.
Louise received awards from both Central Piedmont Community College and Nazareth College in regards to musicianship and advocating for the arts. She hopes to expand her music therapy work with the Expressive Arts Department at Hochstein.

What inspires me: When I see other people doing their best, it makes me want to do my best!
Why the arts matter: The arts are important because they form an integral part of our human experience. It is not always easy, it is not always explicable in what the arts are capable of extracting out of a person, but I know that being immersed in that world allows for a more fulfilling life!
Favorite things to do in Rochester area: Attend local concerts my friends and colleagues are in and walk around Park Ave area
When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: Usually in my apartment!
My favorite local restaurant: SEA restaurant on Monroe Ave.
Favorite place(s) to travel: EVERYWHERE.
Favorite composer: J.S. Bach is my absolute favorite composers of all time
What people would be surprised to know about me: I grew up in the south – North Carolina – but no one ever tells me I have an accent!
