The CMC program brings together students of compatible ages and playing levels to experience the unique dynamics of small ensemble performance. With weekly coaching from Hochstein faculty and opportunities to participate in workshops, masterclasses, and community concerts, these students have developed not only as musicians but as collaborators.

Hochstein at High Falls: Steve Grills and the Roadmasters
Event summary
Join us for a free lunchtime concert at Hochstein at High Falls, featuring Steve Grills and the Roadmasters.
Event details

Steve Grills has been long regarded as one of Rochester's finest guitarists through his deep love and respect for the Blues genre. Steve has performed at music venues from San Francisco to NYC and festivals in the US and Canada, most notably the Chicago Blues Festival with Ernest Lane. Steve has also played alongside many top legends of the blues such as Robert Lockwood, Bill Doggett, Benny Turner, Cary Bell and Joe Beard among others.

Location: Outer parking lot at 4 Commercial Street, corner of Browns Race. Click here for a map

The concerts are hosted by Hannah Maier of The Route/WRUR 88.5. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and lunch. Each performance will run approximately 40 minutes. 

Concerts take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, check Hochstein’s website or Hochstein’s Facebook page at 10:30 am the day of the concert to see if the concert is moving to the rain location at MCC’s Downtown Campus at 321 State Street. There will be signage to direct you to the indoor rain location.

Hochstein at High Falls concerts are presented by the High Falls Business Association, The Hochstein School, and The Route/WRUR 88.5. Hochstein at High Falls is also made possible by a number of local organizations, including Brandtatorship, LaBella Associates, and Monroe Community College.

Spring Dance Showcase
Event summary
Students take the stage in this free afternoon performance celebrating Hochstein’s unique and diverse dance department.
Event details

At Hochstein, the emphasis is on the educational experience and the joy of dance, led by
teachers who are experts in their particular style of dance.

Hochstein at High Falls: Mountain • River • Traveler
Event summary
Join us for a free lunchtime concert at Hochstein at High Falls, featuring Mountain • River • Traveler.
Event details

Mountain · River · Traveler weave together Chinese musical traditions with powerful grooves and electrifying energy, creating a sound called “supercharged Chinese folk”. The group features traditional instruments – most notably the Pipa – alongside the standard guitar-bass-drums setup. Fresh yet familiar, traditional yet modern, Mountain · River · Traveler effortlessly break down musical boundaries to forge new sonic frontiers.

John Dady – one half of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame inductees The Dady Brothers – brings his unique blend of Irish and American folk music back to Hochstein at High Falls.
