Over the course of the six weeks, participants will learn the basics of Irish style and learn two traditional Irish tunes by ear – no music-reading required! The class will also delve into American styles of fiddling, including folk and bluegrass.
NOTE: Students are recommended to bring a compact recording device (i.e., app on phone) to capture some details from the lesson to facilitate practice at home.
Prerequisite: Participants must be able to play scales and simple tunes like “Mary Had a Little Lamb” in the keys of G, D, and A, as well as tune their own instruments.
Fee: $10 registration fee, $96 tuition; $72 if enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein.
