Hochstein Alumni Orchestra Ninth Annual Winter Concert
Event summary
Former Hochstein students return to Rochester to present a free concert. The nearly 50-member Hochstein Alumni Orchestra is directed by Evan Meccarello.
Event details

The program includes "The Fairy Garden" from Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, Debussy’s Petite Suite, the first movement of Korngold’s Violin Concerto with soloist Gabrielle Monachino, and two Argentine tangos: “El Choclo” by Angel Villoldo and Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango.”

The concert is open to the public, with donations accepted to benefit Hochstein. A reception follows the concert.

Hochstein Rock Bands at Lovin’ Cup

Hochstein’s student rock bands, coached by Music Lab Director Dave Chisholm, perform at the Lovin’ Cup in Henrietta.

Spotlight on Faculty – All-in-One
Event summary
During the 19th century, piano transcriptions became an important way to bring large-scale works to the general public. In this concert, we will hear transcriptions of symphony, opera, concerto, and an orchestral work all performed on a single piano.
Event details

Selections include Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise from "Eugene Onegin," Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Romance from Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Ravel’s "La Valse" with transcriptions by Franz Liszt and Maurice Ravel, among others.

Featuring: Yi-Wen Chang, piano        

Admission at the door is $10 per person, with a $20 family maximum. Concerts are free to Hochstein students/families, faculty, and staff.

A “meet the artists” reception follows the concert.
