On October 4, The Hochstein School welcomed its very own Little Free Library, which came about through the combined efforts of Girl Scout Troop 60105. Two of the troop's members are Hochstein students.

Hochstein hosts the inspiring, first-of-its-kind Rochester Intergenerational Choir Day on Saturday, November 16 from 9:30 am-4:00 pm. This event is open to choral singers grade 4 and up, and it’s free!

At the Hochstein All-Faculty Meeting on Tuesday, September 3, we recognized 12 members of the faculty and staff for milestone anniversaries with the School, from 5 years to 25 years. 

Kudos to Hochstein alum Agathya Visveswaran, pictured with a 3D-printed guitar he designed. He has been playing the guitar since the age of 6 when he started studying classical guitar at Hochstein with John Wiesenthal. 

Eliza Shriver is one of Hochstein’s newest Expressive Arts faculty. Eliza began her love of the arts at the age of 2, where she was a student in a Music FUNdamentals class, and is now a teacher for these classes, a true full-circle moment.

As we embrace the fresh fall air, we find ourselves preparing for new beginnings here at Hochstein. With leadership changes, staff hires, and welcoming new faculty and students amongst us – we are grounded in gratitude with a shared love for music and dance as we look ahead. This new chapter begins with a transition in leadership.

The Rochester Fringe Festival runs September 10-21 and this year, Hochstein is a venue for the very first time, with BIODANCE and Cordancia Chamber Orchestra performing “Carnival of the Animals” and other works. Hochstein faculty members are also taking part in other events during Fringe.

Over the last few weeks of summer camps, students have had a blast channeling their inner artistry while making meaningful friendships and memories. 

Join us on Saturday, August 10 for a special treat at the Seneca Park Zoo! Hochstein’s talented Suzuki Presto Strings will perform at four separate locations within the Zoo from 10:30 am-1:30 pm.

The second week of Hochstein’s weeklong Arts in Action Summer Camps took children ages 5-10 on a journey filled with music, art, movement – and sports, too, with the theme of “Play Ball.” Campers also had a special visit from two RocDogs therapy dogs.
