Over the last few weeks of summer camps, students have had a blast channeling their inner artistry while making meaningful friendships and memories.
Three weeks of Arts in Action camps offered children a chance to explore music, art, and movement on a variety of topics. Meanwhile, the Hilda D. Taylor Recital Hall was filled with the sounds of jazz, flutes, wind & brass instruments, and string chamber ensembles.
Students learned about music composition and comic books in Hochstein’s Creativity Lab – and upstairs, the second year of the Around the World of Dance camp introduced students to African, Caribbean, modern, and jazz dance.
Director Hannah Gieseke of the Arts in Action camp shared:
“I have been a part of the Arts in Action camp at The Hochstein School for a decade, and my heart is more full each year. It’s a beautiful experience to see children come to camp on Monday and make connections and friendships throughout the week all while exploring music, art, and dance. The smiles on the campers’ faces when they finish their Friday performances are contagious, and the positive energy keeps families coming back year after year.”
Wynton Rice, Chair of Hochstein’s Dance Department, said:
“I thought this summer at Hochstein was pure magic. From our summer dance classes, which were intimate and full of people making connections, to our dance camp – which just celebrated its first full year – the energy and joy in the studios was infectious.”
