Do you listen to movies as well as watch them? Does the quality of the musical score make a difference in whether you like the film? Have you ever purchased a soundtrack or sheet music from a favorite film? If you said “yes” to any of these questions, this course is for you!
We will explore how movie music functions and why it makes such a difference in the way we perceive a film. From movie trailer to the favorite soundtrack you make part of your own personal sound-world, we will chart the creative process and look at specific films in depth to discover how they work and how the musical score plays on our emotions.
This course will highlight movie music from the silent era, the Golden Age of Hollywood, as well as more recent offerings on the big screen.
FEE: $10 registration fee; $153* tuition. $112.50 if enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein. (Fees are as of Winter 2021.)
