In the first half, HPO plays Verdi’s rousing Overture to Nabucco, selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, and music from the award-winning score to Peter Jackson’s 2001 film Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Then the HYSO performs Smetana’s Three Dances from The Bartered Bride, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, and selections from John Williams’ music for Superman and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Hochstein Concerto Competition winner Joanna Frank is featured in Bruch’s Kol Nidrei for cello and orchestra. HYSO member Amy Feng is Conductor Apprentice for this concert.
