Summer Tap Dance at Hochstein

Enjoy these summer tap classes tailored to different levels and focusing on specific dances and styles.
 

The Shim Sham: Intro to Tap

4 Tuesdays, July 5-26, 2022
6:45-7:45 pm

Absolute beginners will learn the ABCs of tap dancing and the tap dancer’s anthem: The Shim Sham.

 

The Old Soft Shoe: Advanced Beginning Tap

4 Tuesdays, July 5-26, 2022
5:45-6:45 pm

For students with approximately one year of prior tap dance experience, this summer course will explore The Old Soft Shoe.

 

Time Step Variations: Advanced/Intermediate Tap

4 Mondays, July 11-August 1, 2022
6:30-7:30 pm

For students with a solid understanding of the basics and experience dancing at a faster pace. This summer course will explore numerous Time Step variations.
 
Fees for the above classes: $10 registration fee; $72* tuition; $56 for students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein during summer session. (Fees are as of Summer 2022.)

SPECIAL DANCE SAVINGS: Take one Ballet or Dance Styles class at full tuition, get a second (or more) Ballet or Dance Styles class at 50% off! 50% discount applies to the lower tuition fee. For students already receiving a discount for individual lessons, the second additional class is 50% of full tuition (not the discounted amount).

Dance attire for these classes: 

  • Flexible clothing, pant hems at shoe line or above, hair pulled back.
  • Tap shoes with screws countersunk, with non-marking soles (such as brown, caramel, tan, or white). Tap Shoes should fit like a good pair of walking shoes, fitting snugly on the heel and with room in the toe box for toes to stretch. As prices can vary, we recommend buying shoes that fit your budget.
