Learn the basics of music composition with Hochstein Music Lab Director Dave Chisholm! In this course, students will be given a variety of short compositional assignments designed to highlight a series of structural musical concepts, ranging from melodic construction, harmonic progressions, musical contrast, theme and variation, music construction inspired by narrative, rhythmic development, melody-vs-accompaniment, reharmonization, and more.
Students are required to have a computer, a USB-compatible keyboard, and some kind of music-making software (Garageband, Logic, Finale, Sibelius, Dorico, Soundtrap, Muse Score, Noteflight, etc.).
Fee: $10 registration fee; $185* tuition. Tuition for Groups 1 & 2 combined: $310*. (Fees are as of Summer 2020.)
