The program includes Aaron Copland’s Billy the Kid Suite, Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to The Sicilian Vespers, Elegy for the End of Nature by Steve Danyew, Emmanuel Séjourné’s Marimba Concerto with soloist Daniel Kinney, and Emmanuel Chabrier’s Marche Joyeuse conducted by HYSO Conducting Apprentice Amy Feng.
A senior at Pittsford Sutherland High School, Daniel Kinney studies percussion with Kyle Peters at Eastman Community Music School, and his past teachers include Ruth Cahn and Ira Fair. He has been a member of HYSO for six years and previously soloed with them in 2019.
Also a senior at Pittsford Sutherland High School, HYSO Conducting Apprentice Amy Feng is in her seventh season playing with HYSO. As a cellist studying with Kathy Kemp since age 7, Feng has been the principal cellist of HYSO since 2019 and of the NYSSMA Junior High Area All-State Orchestra.
