Spotlight on Faculty – Morton Gould’s Tap Dance Concerto

Morton Gould’s Tap Dance Concerto premiered in Rochester in 1952. For the 70th anniversary, dancer Cheryl Johnson recreates this monumental work to showcase the classical side of her tap-dancing career, accompanied by Dr. Gary Palmer on piano. The program also includes Cheryl dancing to a selection of classical music for children by Béla Bartók, Robert Schumann, and others, performed live by Paula Bobb on toy piano.

Admission at the door is $10 per person, with a $20 family maximum. Concerts are free to Hochstein students/families, faculty, and staff. The concert lasts about an hour, and is followed by a “meet the artists” reception.
