In the 1850s, land grants in the Adirondack community “Timbuctoo,” given by Abolitionist Gerrit Smith to free Blacks, conferred to them the right to vote in New York. Hear the compelling and beautiful choral suite from Glenn McClure’s new work, Promised Land: An Adirondack Folk Opera, in its first performance, alongside American classics by Randall Thompson and Aaron Copland, just in time for Election Day. The SUNY Geneseo Festival Chorus joins ROS.
