April 8, 2024 is a Total Solar Eclipse, the last solar eclipse visible from the entire contiguous United States until 2044. As Rochester is smack-dab in the path of totality, we are anticipating many thousands of extra visitors to the Rochester area to view the eclipse.
With all public schools and several area colleges closed on April 8 and all of the anticipated extra traffic on the roads, we have made the decision to close Hochstein's Plymouth Avenue and DUPC locations on that day. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most of us, and we want to give all of our students and families the chance to enjoy this special celestial event, as well as take advantage of the many activities the MAG, Rochester Museum and Science Center, and other presenting organizations are offering that day.
If you are a Monday student, please talk with your lesson and class teachers about rescheduling your April 8 activities to different days. To facilitate rescheduling, we have added two extra official makeup day possibilities (Monday, April 1 and Monday, June 24).
