Repetition in music is a mesmerizing process: it’s like magic, starting with simple elements then embarking on an unexpected wondrous journey. In this music program, you will hear various forms of repetition, including Mozart’s well-known Theme and Variations on Ah vous dirai-je, Maman (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star); Brahms’ transcription of Bach’s heart-wrenching violin piece Chaconne; Philip Glass’ surreal and hypnotic minimalist work Escape! from the film The Hours; Matt Herskowitz’s fusion of classical and jazz piece, Bach à la Jazz; and Joe Hisaishi’s Merry-Go-Round of Life from Studio Ghibli’s animated film Howl's Moving Castle.
