Philharmonia, Sinfonia, and Concertino Strings Spring Concert

Event summary
Musicians in Hochstein’s Philharmonia Orchestra (grades 6-11), Sinfonia Strings (grades 4-9), and Concertino Strings (grades 1-5), give a free joint concert.
Event details

Hochstein Philharmonia Orchestra is directed by John Fetter and Matt Osika. Sinfonia Strings is directed by John Fetter and Terry Smith. Concertino Strings is directed by Marcos Kreutzer. 

Free Pre-Concert Chamber Music begins at 1:40 pm.

Concertino Strings takes flight with three pieces related to dragons: “Dragons Tail,” “Dragon’s Flight,” and “Dragon Hunter.”

Hochstein Sinfonia Strings performs “Danza Finale from Estancia” by Alberto Ginastera; “North Star to Freedom” by Soon Hee Newbold; and selections from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No 2. The Brandenburg Concerto will feature guest musicians Marcos Kreutzer, violin; Diane Smith, flute; Terry Smith, oboe; Matt Osika, trumpet; and Casey Springstead, continuo.

Finally, the Hochstein Philharmonia Orchestra plays “Variants on a Shaker Melody” from Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring; “Hades’ Revenge” by Matt Osika, as part of the Young Composers’ Collaboration Project; Prelude to Act V of the opera King Manfred by Carl Reinecke; and Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet.
