Live from Hochstein – Schleuning/Pegis Duo

Return
26 Oct, 2022 12:10 PM — 26 Oct, 2022 12:50 PM    50 North Plymouth Avenue Rochester New York United States
Event summary
Featuring Maria Schleuning, violin, and Jolyon Pegis, cello.
Event details

The main work on the program is the Duo for Violin and Cello by Zoltan Kodaly.  This is one of the greatest works for this combination of instruments, virtuosic and very dramatic. In contrast, the selections from Huit Morceaux by Reinhold Glière are much lighter in character and very charming.

Originally from Rochester, cellist Jolyon Pegis is Associate Principal Cellist with the Dallas Symphony as well as Principal Cello of the Chautauqua Symphony and a member of the contemporary ensemble Voices of Change.

Violinist Maria Schleuning has been a member of the Voices of Change Modern Music Ensemble since 1996 and Artistic Director since 2009. An advocate of new music, she has worked with many of the leading composers of our day. She is also a member of the Dallas Symphony and has been a featured soloist on multiple occasions.
