This concert features music set to the lyrical poetry of famed Indian Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore. The poetry – along with music by John Alden Carpenter, Cary Ratcliff, and Mikhail Ipollitov-Ivanov – beckons springtime and evokes garden riches. The program also includes music by Fauré and Schubert, among others, along with poetry readings.
Rita George Simmons and Paula Bobb are both members of Hochstein’s faculty, in flute and piano, respectively. Mezzo-soprano Allyn Van Dusen is a versatile performer who has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, RPO, and Rochester Oratorio Society, among others.
The voice-flute-piano trio Gossamer Edge was formed in 2012 to explore the vibrant repertory for this trio combination, as well as solo literature and duos combining the instruments in different ways that make for intriguing and varied programs.
