Event details

Following her exciting WXXI debut in 2019 with Julia Figueras on Backstage Pass, RPO Principal Harp Grace Browning returns for a compelling solo harp program featuring works by female composers spanning 250 years and five different countries. Through a colorful exploration of the instrument’s history and evolving sonic capabilities, we celebrate the legacy of the harp and the women who made it what it is today. The program includes works by Dussek, Walter-Kühne, Lizotte, Younger, and Renié.

Prior to joining the RPO, Browning was Principal Harp with the Dallas Opera and Harp Fellow with the New World Symphony where she worked closely with Michael Tilson Thomas. She has participated in music festivals around the globe, including the Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival USA, and Aspen Music Festival, among others.

The Hochstein School’s lunchtime Live from Hochstein concert series will be broadcast on WXXI Classical 91.5/90.3 FM and hosted by WXXI Classical 91.5’s Mona Seghatoleslami.

Please note that because of health and safety guidelines during the pandemic, the spring concert series will be broadcast without a live audience in the Performance Hall.

Sidney and Barbara Sobel have provided continuous underwriting of the Live from Hochstein Broadcast & Concert Series since 1993. Live from Hochstein is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
