The 2025 David Hochstein Recital Competition winners – Tristan Zhang, oboe; Friana Engineer, violin; and Weijun Wang, piano – perform a free concert, which is followed by a reception.
Event details

Oboist Tristan Zhang is a sophomore at Pittsford Mendon High School. Violinist Friana Engineer is a senior at Pittsford Sutherland High School. Pianist Weijun Wang is a junior at Pittsford Sutherland High School, Grade 11.

The program will be recorded for later broadcast on WXXI Classical.

Since 1991, The Hochstein School has commemorated the life of David Hochstein with a yearly competition for local upper-level high school students and we are proud to honor his legacy by celebrating and encouraging these talented young musicians.

The David Hochstein Recital Competition is open to advanced students in grades 10-12 in the nine-county region surrounding Rochester. In order to compete, musicians are required to prepare challenging music in varied styles and perform before juries of noted professional artists.
