Over time, the prelude has evolved into a distinct genre with a variety of styles. In this concert, Yi-Wen Chang will explore the prelude from different musical periods, including selections by Bach, Hummel, Chopin, Duckworth, and Kapustin, along with a prelude of her own.

A well-established concert pianist, Yi-Wen Chang has been praised for her impeccable technique and creative communicative ideas. She has appeared as a soloist and collaborative pianist in the United States, Canada, Russia, and Taiwan. In 2015, she launched the “Then and Now” concert series combining traditional and contemporary music and presenting their evolution from the past to present. Chang is on the piano faculty of The Hochstein School and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

The Hochstein School’s free noontime Live from Hochstein concert series will be hosted by WXXI Classical’s Mona Seghatoleslami and broadcast live.
