Drawing on the theme of nature, the forest, and winter melting into spring, Cordancia performs Deep Forest by American composer Mabel Daniels, who was inspired by the woods at the MacDowell Colony artist retreat in New Hampshire, and “Winter” and “Spring” from Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, with violin soloist Sophia Klin.
The program concludes with selections from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite. Each of the five movements illustrate fairy tales, including Tom Thumb who leaves a trail of breadcrumbs to find his way back in the forest and one that depicts a fairy garden.
