Sinfonia & Concertino Strings in Concert

Event summary
Musicians in Hochstein’s Sinfonia Strings (grades 4-9, directed by John Fetter and Terry Smith), and Concertino Strings (grades 1-5, directed by Marcos Kreutzer) orchestral ensembles give a free joint afternoon concert.
Event details

Concertino Strings performs Robert S. Frost’s Alpha Beta Alpha, March with Three Variations by Jorge Andrés Arbelaez, and Sean O’Loughlin’s Dragon’s Tail.

Sinfonia performs Skylife by David Balakrishnan, founder of the Turtle Island Quartet – a piece they call anthem rock groove music for strings; Adoration by Florence Price, notable as the first Black woman to have a composition played by a major orchestra; and the fourth movement of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, an inventive work based on folk melodies.
