Holiday Concert of Young Voices

Return
11 Dec, 2021 3:00 PM — 11 Dec, 2021 4:30 PM    50 North Plymouth Avenue Rochester New York United States
Event summary
Young singers in Hochstein’s choral program – Hochstein Singers and Youth Singers, directed by Maryellen Giese, and the Hochstein Little Singers, directed by Shana Kohler – perform this free afternoon concert featuring a mixture of musical styles.
Event details

This seasonal program includes festive songs like “Gaudete,” a 16th-century Christmas carol, and “It’s the Holiday Season,” made popular by Andy Williams, as well as a song from the movie The Greatest Showman.

The Little Singers explore music about animals, birds, and even penguins! They also perform an excerpt from Brahms’ Lullaby.

The “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah makes two appearances – one in a jazzed-up version sung by the Hochstein Singers. Later in the program, the HYS is joined by parents and friends and members of the Rochester Oratorio Society for the classic version. Audience members who have previously sung the piece are welcome to join in (masked and distanced) and music will be provided.

This concert will also be live streamed on YouTube. Use this link to watch the concert on YouTube: https://youtu.be/6g9Kv8s6lwA
