Hochstein’s Junior Wind Symphony features wind, percussion, and brass players in grades 7 and 8. The ensemble meets for six weeks in September and October to prepare music for this fall concert, which is free and open to the public.
The program includes the rhythmically exhilarating “Joie de Vivre” by Gary Gilroy, “Yorkshire Ballad” by American wind band composer James Barnes, “Novo Lenio” – two Latin words meaning a new and better change – by Sam Hazo, and “March of the Trolls” by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.
