Event details

Two towering masterworks, Schubert's String Quartet No. 13, "Rosamunde," and Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14, Op. 131, were written just a couple of years apart - and each was written near the end of its composer's life. Schubert's quartet, written in 1824, is typically overflowing with tunes from history's greatest melodist. Beethoven's last string quartet was composed in 1826 and is immense in every sense of the word. This work challenges the skill, heart, and endurance of the players and is arguably Beethoven's most profound statement. On his deathbed, Schubert asked to hear Beethoven's opus 131.

The Amenda Quartet is: David Brickman & Patricia Sun-Woo, violin; Melissa Matson, viola; Mimi Hwang, cello.

The Hochstein School’s free lunchtime “brown bag” Live from Hochstein concert series takes place in the Hochstein Performance Hall and is broadcast live on WXXI Classical 91.5/ 90.3 FM.
