Community Celebration for Christopher Morrison

Return
31 Mar, 2019 2:00 PM — 26 Mar, 2019 3:30 PM    50 North Plymouth Avenue Rochester New York United States
Event summary
The public is invited to a celebration of life and love for recently deceased local dancer-educator, and former Hochstein faculty member, Christopher Morrison. Tributes and performances from the local arts community will grace the Hochstein Performance Hall stage.
Event details

Christopher died from pancreatic cancer on January 12 in New York City. His local legacy is so strong that volunteers have come together to honor him in song, dance, and spoken word in this special celebration. A memorial reception immediately follows in Dance Studio 2.

Christopher impacted so many local organizations that will be represented at the Celebration. He either danced, choreographed, or taught at Garth Fagan Dance, The Hochstein School, Borinquen Dance Theatre, Biodance, Timothy M. Draper Center For Dance Education, Midtown Athletic Club, East High School, School Without Walls, The Harley School, the JCC, and many area festivals.

Dear friends will offer tributes such as Thomas Warfield, musical artist and assistant professor at NTID, and Maria Battista-Hancock, whom Christopher worked with in Hochstein's Music Therapy program.

Donations are being collected for the Christopher Morrison Fund at The Hochstein School - a fund created to celebrate Christopher's passion for dance and honor his legacy by providing need-based financial assistance for students in our dance program.

Donations to this fund can be made online at hochstein.org/Support, by mailing a check made payable to The Hochstein School (50 N. Plymouth Ave. Rochester, NY 14614), or by calling Hochstein's Development office at (585) 454-4403. For gifts to be included in the Christopher Morrison Fund, please be sure to specify your gift is in his memory.
