Tap Dance at Hochstein
In our beginner/intermediate tap dance classes, we'll start with the very basics, taking you from your first steps and introducing you to essential tap techniques. You'll learn how to create captivating sounds and explore the intricacies of rhythm as it relates to tap dancing. We’ll also introduce you to basic music theory, tailored specifically for tap dancers, helping you understand how to syncopate and find harmony with the music.
As you progress to our intermediate classes, get ready to take your skills to the next level! We'll dive into a broader range of steps, challenging your abilities and expanding your tap vocabulary. You'll also develop greater facility with more complex rhythms, allowing you to unleash your creativity and add flair to your performances.
Whether you're a beginner or have some tap experience, our classes are designed to cater to all levels, fostering a supportive and enjoyable environment for your growth as a tap dancer.
Tap shoes are required. See below for shoe information.
Beginning/Intermediate Teen/Adult Tap

Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm beginning October 8, 2024
Ages 13 to adult (New beginners)
Fee: $20 registration fee; initial payment of $100 for Quarter 1, then 3 quarterly payments of $180* per 9-week session. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein (only one dance class or FUNdamentals class qualifies for the discounted class rate), the reduced tuition is $75 for Quarter 1 then $135 per quarter.
Full year tuition is $640* payable in quarterly installments of $100 for Quarter 1, then $180* per each 9-week session or the reduced fee for lesson students of $480 payable in quarterly installments of $75 for Quarter 1 then $135 per each 9-week session. (Fees are as of Fall 2024.)
Intermediate/Advanced Teen/Adult Tap

Mondays, 6:30-7:30 pm
Ages 13 to adult (intermediate and up)
Fee: $20 registration fee; quarterly payments of $180* per 9-week session. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein (only one dance class or FUNdamentals class qualifies for the discounted class rate), the reduced tuition is $135 per quarter.
Full year tuition is $720* payable in quarterly installments of $180 per 9-week session or the reduced fee for individual lesson students of $540 payable in quarterly installments of $135. (Fees are as of Fall 2024.)
Start anytime! Tuition will be prorated accordingly if enrolling after the start date.

Dance attire for this class:
- Flexible clothing, pant hems at shoe line or above, hair pulled back.
- Tap shoes with screws countersunk, with non-marking soles (such as brown, caramel, tan, or white). Tap Shoes should fit like a good pair of walking shoes, fitting snugly on the heel and with room in the toe box for toes to stretch. As prices can vary, we recommend buying shoes that fit your budget.
