The Allegro Fund at the Hochstein School of Music & Dance was generously created by board member Nan Hildebrandt and her husband Tom Hildebrandt, to encourage annual gifts of $5,000 or more for need-based scholarships. A gift at this level will make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and help the organization achieve its financial goals and mission in a cost-effective way. Further, Hochstein’s leadership gift donors will help to build a stronger culture of philanthropy within the organization. A donation of $5,000 is projected to support 12 students for the duration of the school year.
"The Allegro Fund and its donors will impact hundreds of members of our community this school year, many of them children from the city of Rochester. I am so grateful to the Hildebrandts and to key board members for leading the way with their generous support!" notes President & Executive Director Peggy Quackenbush.
On average, Hochstein awards $325,000 annually in need-based assistance to over 1,500 children and adults in its music, dance and Expressive Arts (music/dance/art therapy) programs. Hochstein provides the highest percentage of tuition assistance per neighborhood for kids in Sectors 10 & 3, where poverty is most concentrated.
In addition to Nan and Tom Hildebrandt, two other Hochstein leaders have made commitments to start the Allegro Fund; Sue Scanlon and her husband Croft Hangartner and Kathy Schumacher and her husband Jon. Scanlon is a current member of the Hochstein Board of Directors and Schumacher is an Advisory Board member.
As recognition for their support, donors to the Allegro Fund will:
· Be featured in Hochstein’s Annual Report and at Honors Convocation
· Receive testimonial letters from need-based scholars
· Be granted free admission to the Spotlight on Faculty Concert Series
· Be offered special custom-designed opportunities to interact with students and experience performances from “behind-the-scenes”
