Hochstein String Faculty - Megan Kemp

Instrument: Violin & Viola

Joined Hochstein Faculty: 2014

Megan Kemp received her master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music and her bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University, both degrees in Music Education-String emphasis. Her teachers have been Virginia Wensel, Katie McLin, Barbara Strugis-Everett, Lynn Chang, Nicholas Mann, and Charles Castleman.

Megan is nationally certified in Suzuki Violin teaching. She likes to tailor her instruction to each individual student, as everyone learns differently. Megan uses a combination of both traditional and Suzuki teaching and is always exploring different ways to make lessons fun and enjoyable. She is an alumna of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Hochstein Scholarship Chamber Music Program. Megan has performed in the back-up orchestras for Johnny Mathis, Sarah McLachlan, and Josh Groban, where she played both violin and cello!

Megan teaches violin and viola lessons. She taught general music, choir, and orchestra in Scottsdale, AZ, for four years and most recently was in Spartanburg, SC, where she taught orchestra for students in 5th-12th grade. She has been teaching private lessons for over 20 years.

Megan currently resides in Greece, where she lives with her husband, Jason; daughter, Cadence; and son, Connor.
