Hochstein Piano Faculty - Yi Wen Chang

Pianist Yi-Wen Chang holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, and a Master of Music from the Juilliard School of Music. She also received a Bachelor of Music from Eastman, where she was awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate in recognition of outstanding concert artistry.

Dr. Chang has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist in the United States, Canada, Russia, and Taiwan. She has worked with distinguished artists and chamber orchestras, such as Jeffrey Milarsky, Rebecca Penneys, Alan Pierson, Ian Bousfield, Eastman Philharmonia, and Eastman Wind Ensemble.

She is also a champion of new music, and has collaborated with numerous contemporary composers, including Milton Babbitt, Jennifer Higdon, Melinda Wagner, and Zhi-Yuan Guo.

In addition to performing extensively as a soloist and collaborator, Chang is also a dedicated pedagogue. A native of Taiwan, Dr. Chang has held teaching positions at the Kai-Nan University and China University of Technology in Taiwan.
