Hochstein Expressive Arts Faculty - Katie Maya

Instrument/Department: Expressive Arts - Music Therapy

Joined Hochstein faculty in: Spring 2023

Katie Maya grew up in Rhode Island, where she spent the majority of her time involved in musical activities. She was a member of her school choirs and an all-ages community choir, often accompanying both with her guitar. Katie also participated in Rhode Island’s All-State Music Festival throughout her high school career.

Katie graduated from Nazareth College in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy. She completed her music therapy internship at St. Ann’s Community where she facilitated individual and group music therapy sessions for elders living with dementia and other age-related diagnoses. Katie also has experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and adults who experience speech-language disorders as the result of a stroke.

Katie is grateful for the experiences she has had throughout her education and she is thrilled to be a part of the Hochstein School!

Hometown: Cumberland, Rhode Island

When I’m not at Hochstein, you can find me: Snuggling with my cat, Frankie, or roller skating!

My favorite local restaurant: HollyCake House — their breakfast sandwiches and vegan desserts are an absolute must try for brunch/breakfast lovers.
