Hochstein Dance Faculty - Kate Wheeler

Department: Dance, Movement for Wellness - Pilates

Kate Wheeler recently moved back to Rochester from Boston, MA, where she was a fledgling instructor at Every Body Pilates of Belmont. She holds her Advanced Teaching Certification from The Pilates Center of Boulder, internationally recognized as one of the most rigorous Classical Pilates programs in the industry. In addition to athletes, beginners, and Pilates teachers, Kate specializes in working with clients in a post-PT capacity: those who are navigating back pain, joint disease, and pre/post-partum recovery are welcomed students. Kate is Pilates Method Alliance Certified® and forever exploring her practice under the mentorship of Deb Kolwey and the Taylor Sisters of The Pilates Center. Her studio, Crescent Trail Pilates, is located in Fairport, NY.

It's liberating to move with integrated strength and flexibility, and Kate believes that the experience is possible for everyone. Kate teaches Classical Pilates, the style which follows Joseph Pilates' original movement sequencing, equipment specifications, and mind-body philosophy. Joseph Pilates' work is remarkably adaptive, and can be modified for every body.

Kate's early career included time as Gallery Assistant and Tour Director at Artisan Works; as a Dance Faculty member at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance where she also served as Assistant Dean; and as Director of Community Engagement at Powers Music School in Belmont, MA.
