Grace Myers is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Anthropology and a BA in Dance. She is currently an MA Candidate in History at the University of Rochester, where she studies art and cultural production in modern Lebanon. Grace attended Rochester’s School of the Arts as a dance major, and is proud to be returning home to join the dance faculty at Hochstein!
Grace taught dance enrichment for Kindergarten-4th grade students at DREAM Mott Haven Elementary in the Bronx for two years. She was the President of CityDance at WashU; in her position she spent three years facilitating free-access dance education for dozens of schools and community centers in St. Louis while teaching at the Messiah Community Center. Grace also provided accessible pedagogy training for OurChance2Dance and taught Zoom workshops and clinics for a behavioral facility in Illinois and a school for Deaf children in Missouri.
Grace is trained in the Fagan Technique, and worked administratively for Garth Fagan Dance, supporting development, education, and archives. She worked as the Board Liaison and Assistant to the Executive Director at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and served as a research and administrative assistant to Melanie George, a revered scholar of jazz dance.
Grace studied the Horton and Dunham Techniques at WashU, and trained at the Center for Creative Arts in St. Louis. She studied the Gaga Technique and performed Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 at COCA.
Grace spent her adolescence training in classical ballet, performing three times at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City. She trained in physical-theatre and post-modern dance forms in Prague, Czech Republic, and Arezzo, Italy. She has both performed and choreographed locally and internationally, including in St. Louis, Prague, New York City, and Rochester. She has additional training in jazz dance and Latin dance styles.
